Permanent Resident Card

The permanent resident card (PR card) is the official proof of your status as a permanent resident in Canada.

Do you need to apply for a PR card?

If you are a new permanent resident, you will automatically receive your new card by mail when you first arrive in Canada. This is part of the immigration process and you do not need to apply for a PR card.

Are you eligible to apply for a PR card?

To be eligible for a PR card, you must:

  • Be a permanent resident of Canada;
  • Be physically present in Canada;
  • Meet the residency requirement
  • Not be under an effective removal order
  • Not be a Canadian citizen; and
  • Not be convicted of an offense related to the misuse of a PR card

When can you apply for a PR card?

You may apply for:

  • Your first PR card;
  • A renewal of your PR card that has or will soon expire;
  • You legally changed your name and need to update your PR card;
  • A replacement of your PR card that has been lost, stolen or damaged; or to change the gender designation on your PR card

You are outside Canada and do not have a valid PR card to return, you must apply for a permanent resident travel document (PRTD).

Visa Refusals – Order GCMS Notes

Visa refusals are more common than you expect and could be for a simple reason as to using the wrong from or to more complex situations like misrepresentation.

Why doesn’t the refusal clearly explain the reasons why my application was refused?

The refusal letters from IRCC are generic; meaning, they do not provide the details for refusal other than a generic message and giving reference to the immigration act or regulation that you have not satisfied the officer and therefore making you ineligible or inadmissible to Canada.

What should you do?

The good news is that you can order global case management (GCMS) notes to have a better understanding of the officer’s decision on your application. This will be helpful in determining whether you want to either request a re-consideration, re-application, or seek judicial review.

How we can help?

Our visa refusal management service helps you to understand the exact reasons for the refusal and where possible, we can provide guidance to increase your chances of success in your re-application or advise you what would be your best course of action to take.

Our file review service is designed for our confident clients who wish to do the majority of the work on their own but need a set of professional eyes to avoid errors that could hinder your application success.

We will assess your profile and do a detailed review of the information and documents provided and we will provide feedback on your application.
