Are you immigration ready?

17 June 2022

“I will start thinking about immigrating to Canada when I am ready!”

Many people have this misconception about Canadian Immigration; they believe that it makes more sense to start planning their Canadian journey when they are ready to immigrate “LITERALLY”!

Even if you have not begun the application process, it is in your benefit to plan ahead. Being proactive is the key to success because applying for most immigration programs require you to prepare by compiling a number of documents and understanding the requirements for available programs.

With hundreds of immigrations programs, it may be challenging to navigate the system and know which is the best option for you, but there are a few things you can do to help speed up the process.

HERE ARE SOME TIPS TO AID YOU IN YOUR PREPARATION

1. START YOUR RESEARCH EARLY & UNDERSTAND THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE IMMIGRATION PROGRAM

Research what programs you may be eligible for and check the eligibility requirements. If you start early, you may have time to work towards meeting the requirements so that you can become eligible for the programs.

2. START GATHERING THE REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION

Even though you may not know what program you are applying for yet, all programs require certain documentation that will work to your advantage if you already have it. Some of these are:

  • Education Credential Assessment (ECA). This is basically getting your educational credential/s assessed under Canadian standards if you have not studied in Canada. This process can take a few months and therefore best to start early.
  • Language Ability Test Scores. These are generally valid 2 years from the date taken. If you are not confident that you will achieve the required score, start practicing early and schedule a test. Sometimes it may take more than one attempt to achieve the desired score.
  • Other documents to have ready such as police clearance certificates, birth certificate, marriage/divorce certificate as these can all be prepared ahead of time and make the process much smoother and faster.

3. PLAN FINANCIALLY

Most immigration programs have a requirement to meet the settlement funds posted by IRCC. This amount varies depending on if you are applying individually or as a family. You will also need funds to pay for the IRCC processing fees. It is therefore advisable to understand and then plan for the financial requirements to avoid delays in application submissions.

4. SEEK PROFESSIONAL HELP IF YOU AREN’T SURE OF WHAT TO DO.

Time is money and this statement stands true especially in immigration matters. For instance, in the Express Entry system, age plays a crucial role in maximizing your immigration opportunities and therefore if you aren’t sure of what to do or where to start, it may be worth to book a consultation with an immigration consultant (RCIC) to get professional advice.

At CliQ ConneQt Immigration Solutions we offer an initial Consultation Credit Policy. We will apply a credit of the fees that you have paid towards the professional retainer and therefore it’s a WIN WIN situation for you. The initial consultation fee may be the smallest fee you will pay for valuable life changing advice.
